photoshop progress

photoshop progress


i created a gold font using a tutorial online which may become useful later on in the project.
i also created a chrome effect which i can use for multiple uses not just text.

i also followed another photoshop tutorial which created a stamp effect tool which i could use to make my logo more effective and look more professional.

what is the brief

to create an advertising campaign for a music festival called Steel City Fest. it must consist of a flyer, billboard ad and a ticket design.

who is the target audience

the target audience is an age group of 18-35 as it will be people who are into the house music scene. it is affordable and will appeal to those in the ABC1 social category.

health and safety consideration
  • take regular breaks from computer to prevent straining eyes and causing serious headaches
  • take extra care when out and about with equipment making sure it is not damaged by tripping up or dropping it or isn't stolen
  • make sure lighting levels in studio is at correct level so eyes aren't strained

  1. make sure graphic products follow the ASA's rules and regulations of graphic design.

survey monkey results







the results show that the viewers prefer logs 1 and 2 the best with the selection split 50/50 between the 2. this is due to its concise design and cleanliness and also they say that 1 and 2 have a more professional well designed look to logo 1 and that they are visually appealing and engaging to the audience. Also because the people taking my survey are in my target demographic it means my logo design will appeal to my target audience. the audience also like the colours of the logo and the arrangement of components within the design. however viewers dislike some of the shades of blue within the logo and minor imperfections such as the lines around the edge make it look less appealing. some suggest that a darker blue would be better.

KTA 9 other successfull brand campaigns

The logo for the super you and me brand hosted by the artist Laidback Luke for his mix mash record label. all his graphics follow the same house style which is very brightly coloured cartoon images and text.

The poster for the branded event also follows the house style and font of the logo making it successful at separating itself from its competing brands.

KTA 6 steel city fest brief and target audience

P1 M1 D1 are assessed in this task

I will be making promotional material for a new music festival in Sheffield called Steel City Fest.
The music that will be played at Steel City Fest will be EDM and house.
I will crate a logo, a magazine advertisement and a billboard poster.


An audience member of my take on the steel city fest is a very modern and young individual. They are always up for a good time and live to party and get a bit drunk. They are always updated on the latest fashion and technology wearing the latest trends and holding the latest mobile devices. The target demographic love groovy bass lines, funky melodies and the biggest drops to make their party atmosphere explode. the are a very dedicate group of people who will search far and wide for good music, warm weather and a good night out in the biggest clubs and festivals.
The target audience will be of the ages between 17 and 38. in terms of social grades 20% will be from A , 40% from B 40% from C1. The festival will have 55% female and 45% male.

duke dumont captued the attention of the deep house following with his ibiza smasher 'need you (100%)' which became an essential summer tune. his djing is nothing short of his outstanding producing ability making him eligible to perform at steel city fest.

The new kids on the block Disclosure have exploded on the deep house scene with chart toppers which have captured listeners globally. The sound these two bring fits the category of deep house exactly which is why i have chosen them and they bring their own style of producing to the table along with a few other smasher tracks in the mix.
Fatboy slim
Fatboy Slim is a jack of all trades when it comes to djing speciality. In fact he is an all round crowd pleaser taking tracks from across the whole genre of house and edm. This makes Fatboy slim a no brainer of a choice for crowd satisfaction and ticking all the required genres.

Carl Cox is a world renowned dj making him a house legend in his own right. specialising in house and deep house music and 12 successful years in ibiza under his belt he is a perfect act to perform in steel city fest due to his razor sharp song choices and astonishing delivery on stage.
